HPU sweeps Grand Canyon in softball

Kristen Caskey scattered eight hits and Chante Tesoro went 2-for-3 to lead Hawaii Pacific to a 2-1 victory over Grand Canyon in the first game of a softball doubleheader sweep on Tuesday at Okita Field.

Keila Elderts contributed with an RBI single for the Sea Warriors (10-10, 3-7 Pacific West Conference).

Stephanie Pesquera tossed a four-hitter in the loss for the Antelopes (22-9, 10-4).

Caira Pires drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning in the second game to give HPU a 2-1 win.

Melissa Kirby picked up the win with a five-hitter, and Elderts went 2-for-3.

Kayla Henry went 4-for-4 in the second game for Grand Canyon.
