Li‘ili‘i, Parnaby earn Big West honors
A day after completing a sweep of its first Big West series of the season, the University of Hawaii softball team also claimed both of the conference’s weekly awards.
Sophomore first baseman Leisha Li‘ili‘i was named Big West softball field player of the week and senior Kaia Parnaby received the pitcher of the week award on Monday following UH’s three-game sweep at Cal State Northridge over the weekend.
Li‘ili‘i was honored for the second time this season after hitting home runs in all three games against the Matadors. The Castle graduate hit .556 (5-for-9) and posted a .667 on-base percentage. She had a double to go along with her three homers for a slugging percentage of 1.667 and drove in five runs in the series. Li‘ili‘i’s performance also moved her into the team lead with a .314 batting average.
Parnaby was named the conference’s pitcher of the week for the fourth time this season and for the second consecutive week. Parnaby earned complete-game wins in all three starts against the Matadors and struck out 13 in the series opener on Saturday. Parnaby continues to lead the nation in victories at 23-3.
The No. 20/23 Rainbow Wahine return home to face UC Davis in a three-game series, starting with a single game at 6 p.m. Friday. The teams play a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. Saturday.
