Vulcans in eighth place in Arizona
Led by Jade Salvador’s 6-over 78, the Hawaii Hilo women’s golf team opened with a 326 in the first round of the Grand Canyon Invitational on the Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz., on Monday.
The Vulcans are in eighth place, 19 strokes behind St. Edward’s (Texas) in the 18-team field. Hilo’s Kristen Sawada (80) is tied for 22nd, Shannon Abarra (83) tied for 39th, Erika Morihiro (85) tied for 57th and Kacie Harada (89) tied for 73rd heading into today’s final round.
Rain postpones softball doubleheaders
Rain in Northern California forced the postponement of Monday’s softball doubleheaders involving two Pacific West Conference schools from Hawaii.
Monday’s doubleheader between Hawaii Hilo and host Dominican has been rescheduled for Wednesday in San Rafael, Calif. The doubleheader between Chaminade and host Academy of Art in Brisbane, Calif., also will be played Wednesday.
