Boy and dad hurt in pocket bike crash
A 4-year-old boy and his father were injured when the miniature motorcycle, commonly known as a pocket bike, they were riding crashed on Waikalua Road in front of Kaneohe Beach Park shortly before 4:40 p.m. Friday.
A resident at the scene of the crash said the boy was riding in front of his father on the pocket bike when the father, 38, tried to stop to avoid a car that was backing out of a driveway at the bottom of the road. The man crashed on the side of the road, injuring himself and his son.
The resident said he carried the boy, who was bleeding from the head and crying, into his garage to tend to him while someone called 911. The man blacked out for a few seconds, he said. They were taken in serious condition by ambulance to a hospital.
