Kua shoots record 62 at Mid-Pac Open
TJ Kua had 10 birdies and no bogeys en route a record-setting 10-under 62 at the Mid-Pacific Open on Friday in Lanikai.
Kua, who had 26 putts and missed just one green, broke the record of 64 set by Greg Meyer in 1989.
Kua birdied six holes on the back nine, including his final three.
When asked about Friday’s conditions, Kua said, "I love it. The ankle-high rough and quickness of the greens are unlike any other tournament in Hawaii."
His round Friday was 10 shots better than Thursday and he’s at 10-under 134. He leads by four over former PGA Tour member Dean Wilson, who shot 66 on Friday. First-round leader Eric Meichtry shot 71 and is at 140. The event continues today and ends on Sunday.
