Velma Pantohan, who used to live in One­ula Beach Park and in a shelter, and her 19-year-old son were the first residents to move into Moa‘e Ku last year. “It’s beautiful here,” she said. “It was a blessing for my son and me.”

A dual ceremony Friday marked the grand opening of Moa‘e Ku’s first phase and blessed the start of construction on its second.
