Kauai man charged with woman’s murder
Kauai police have arrested and charged the roommate of a 21-year-old woman with second-degree murder.
Steven Michael Wilson, 26, of Kapaa is being held in lieu of $1 million bail in the death of 21-year-old Kendra Lewis. He is due to be arraigned today in District Court before Judge Trudy Senda.
Lewis was found dead in her room Friday afternoon. An autopsy conducted today confirmed that she was stabbed to death.
Police believe Wilson, who was initially classified as a person of interest in the case, was living with Lewis at the time of her death at the Kawaihau Sports Villa condominium. The two recently relocated to Kauai from Alaska.
The resident manager at Kawaihau Sports Villa declined to comment.
Police apprehended Wilson on Saturday afternoon at 7-Eleven in Hanamaulu and took him in for questioning before he was arrested and charged with Lewis’ death.
Police declined to release additional details.
