Dolan, Bartlett repeat in channel relay
Patrick Dolan and Kai Bartlett teamed to battle brutal conditions to win Sunday’s Kaiwi Channel Relay from Molokai to Oahu.
Dolan and Bartlett finished the 41-mile race from Kaluakoi to Magic Island in 6 hours, 25 minutes and 12 seconds, nearly two hours off their winning time last year.
Manny Kulukulualani and Billy Lawson were second (6:27:04) in the OC1 division while Mario Mausio, Adam Aea, Kekai Kamakawiwoole and Anthony Ortiz teamed to win the OC2 division, third overall (6:28:59). Lindsey Shank and Rachel Bruntsch were the first of three women’s OC1 teams to finish, 29th overall (8:35:06.)
Ten of the 50 registered teams did not finish the race, which was dedicated to the late legendary waterman Tommy Conner.
