According to Ray Foster, a Monsanto representative on Molokai, the 30 acres the company leases from DHHL represent only 1 percent of the 2,300 acres the company owns or leases on the island. Pictured here is a Monsanto field on Molokai that is not DHHL land. “We recognize that there is a small segment of the local community that is critical of Monsanto,” said Foster, who noted the company takes steps to reduce soil erosion due to wind or water runoff.
