Sculpture exhibit, pupu to benefit farm
View the sculptures of master copper artist Sooriya Kumar and enjoy organic Indian pupu at a benefit Friday at the Still & Moving Center.
The 5 p.m. event will feature produce from Kumar’s Mouna Farm Arts and Cultural Village in Waianae. The village offers various art, farming, cooking and peace programs.
Kumar’s copper pieces are featured at hotels, restaurants, health institutions, gateways and private homes.
Funds raised will go to the farm, which relies on donations. Vima Lamura will perform music and chant.

Buddhist temple tour to focus on symbols
Gain a better understanding ofthe symbols and meanings embedded in the architecture of Buddhist temples during a June 8 bus tour sponsored by the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii. Authors George and Willa Tanabe will be the guides, with stops at Jodo Mission of Hawaii, Shingon Shu Hawaii and Nichiren Mission of Hawaii.
The tour runs from 8:45 to 11:15 a.m., departing from the cultural center at 2454 S. Beretania St. Check-in time is 8:30 a.m. Cost is $25 ($20 for center members). Call 945-7633.
