Baxter claims ‘fastest paddler’ title
Maui’s Connor Baxter won the first two events of last week’s Lost Mills International Stand-Up Paddleboard Races, including Thursday’s "Fastest Paddler On Earth" time trial in Brombachsee, Germany.
On Thursday, Baxter finished the 200-meter sprint race in 53.17 seconds, more than two seconds ahead of runner-up Eric Terrien (55.94) of France in the men’s elite 14-foot final. Baxter followed that up with a victory in Friday’s "Jamie Mitchell Survivor Race," a knock-out sprint race format using 12-foot, 6-inch boards.
In Saturday’s main event of the European SUP Racing Tour stop, Baxter was second to Terrien in the 18K race on 14-foot boards. Terrien was timed in 1:37:20, with Baxter (1:39:43) holding off Australia’s Travis Grant (1:39:46) by three seconds for second place.
