Family fears for man’s safety
The family of a missing 22-year-old man say they fear he, like his slain pregnant girlfriend, may have been the victim of violence.
Tom and Kathy Johnson of Petersburg, Alaska, the parents of Boaz "Bo" Johnson, say they believe he’s been unfairly portrayed by the police as a suspect in her killing, the Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports.
The Johnsons say their last contact with their son was by phone on May 27, the day before the body of his girlfriend, Brittany-Jane Royal, 25, was found caught up in a line of a fishing boat off the lower Puna coast.
They and another son, Mark, are on Hawaii island, where they said they hope to find Bo Johnson alive or get answers about what happened to him. Police say the couple was camping near the entry to the lava viewing area in Kalapana, not far from where Royal’s body was found.
