Moped driver injured hitting dog and car
A man driving a moped struck a dog and then collided with an automobile Saturday night on Waianae Valley Road, according to a report from Emergency Medical Services.
Paramedics took the man to the hospital in critical condition after the accident.
The accident happened at about 8 p.m.
Windsurfer rescued after mast breaks
Maui fire rescue personnel assisted a 60-year-old windsurfer at sea when the mast on his board broke Saturday.
The man was reported missing by his wife at about 6 p.m.
Firefighters from the Kahului Fire Station and a Maui Fire Department helicopter searched the water off Kanaha Beach Park for a half-hour before locating the missing man, who was floating on his board between the wastewater treatment plant and the Maui Electric power plant.
The man, who was not injured, was airlifted to safety, and his equipment was brought to shore by a rescue jet ski.
Alleged threat to police results in arrest
A man who allegedly threatened police officers with a dangerous weapon was being held in lieu of $30,000 bail after being charged Saturday with first-degree terroristic threatening as well as drug and firearm offenses.
Police arrested the 25-year-old man Thursday afternoon in Waialua. Police said the officers, responding to a report of a suspicious person, were confronted by the man at about 2:17 p.m.
Pair arrested over burglary, threat, drug
Police arrested a 19-year-old man and 22-year-old woman for suspicion of burglary, terroristic threatening and drug possession after they allegedly threatened a 20-year-old man and took his property.
Police said the suspects allegedly took property from the victim Thursday and returned to his home Saturday afternoon and threatened him.
The victim called police, who stopped the suspects’ car at 7 p.m. on Wilikina Drive. Police said officers found a packet of a white crystalline substance in the car and arrested the pair.
Drug-dealing report generates theft arrest
Honolulu police, responding to a report of person dealing drugs in the Ala Moana area, arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of bicycle theft.
Officers investigating the incident Saturday morning on Atkinson Drive checked on a bicycle that the suspect was holding and discovered it was stolen, police said.
Officers arrested the man, who gave no local address, on suspicion of second-degree theft at about 6:40 a.m.
Man hurt by apparent fall into canal
A 45-year-old man was taken in critical condition to an area hospital Sunday afternoon after he apparently fell into the River Street Canal.
According to an Emergency Medical Services report, the man apparently fell into the canal from street level. It was not immediately known whether his condition was due to trauma or medical causes. The incident occurred just before 4 p.m.
