The Search for Signs of Hawaiian Life: Seoul
COURTESY ANDERS HOST-MADSEN
SEOUL OF KONA: In Seoul, Anders Host-Madsen of Honolulu found what appeared to be a four-story building dedicated to Hawaiian coffee and food. A statue of King Kamehameha, his arm outreached in a familiar pose, stood outside welcoming guests to eat, drink Kona coffee and listen to Hawaiian music. Host-Madsen, who returned from South Korea in early June, said, Kona Komo "seems to be a chain with several coffee shops. Hawaii's profile in Korea is on an upward trend."
