Popeyes restaurant coming to Kapahulu
The Hawaii operator of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is building a new location at 647 Kapahulu Ave.
The Kapahulu store, expected to open in the third quarter of this year, will be the fifth Oahu location for the fast-feeder.
Its other stores are at 1515 Dillingham Blvd., at Waipahu Town Center, at the food court at the Navy Exchange Mall (which is open to the public) and on Naval Base Pearl Harbor.
The new site was blessed June 19 by the Rev. William Kaina.
News of the expansion comes on the heels of an announcement by KFC Hawaii that it was closing two locations this week.

Oceanic to deploy Wi-Fi hot spots in isles
Oceanic Time Warner Cable will deploy 1,000 Wi-Fi hot spots in Hawaii this year as part of a plan to eventually deploy as many as 5,000 such hot spots for mobile Internet access.
The hot spots coming this year will be installed primarily on Oahu, but "we will probably be putting a few on the Big Island and Maui this year, too," Oceanic President Bob Barlow told the Star-Advertiser. "We currently have over 100 active Wi-Fi spots up and running."
Oceanic broadband customers will be able to access the Wi-Fi at no extra charge, not just here, but also in mainland markets served by Time Warner Cable, Barlow said.

Since then it has introduced other stores, including Local Fever, Jeans Warehouse Kids and Jeans Warehouse Plus. Jeans Warehouse is now a 100 percent employee-owned company.
