Andrew Zimmern, host of the Travel Channel’s "Bizarre Foods America," tours the Big Island and Oahu for a new installment Monday titled "Undiscovered Hawai‘i," airing at 6 p.m.
The hour-long episode has Zimmern fishing in Milolii on Hawaii island, eating shave ice at Shimazu Store and pounding paiai with Daniel Anthony of Mana Ai.
He also samples the bile sac of a dried octopus and various types of poke prepared at Tersty Treats, and visits Alicia’s Market, the Jade Crack Seed factory and Honolulu Fish Auction.
Zimmern filmed the segments in November.
A James Beard Award-winning television personality, Zimmern runs the foodie website www.andrewzimmern.com and is the author of several books.
His latest is "Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World of Food: Brains, Bugs, and Blood Sausage," published last year.
