O'SULLIVAN CELEBRATES CD RELEASE | 5. Duncan Osorio, left, opened and closed the party for guitarist Ian O'Sullivan, center, and producer Bailey Matsuda as they celebrated the release of O'Sullivan's debut album, "Born and Raised," June 28 at thirtyninehotel. O'Sullivan played several songs from his album but ended his set with a Hawaiian song from the '20s, "Radio Hula." Osorio then returned to the stage for a nuanced rendition of "Ku'u Home O Kahalu'u." See my review of "Born and Raised" in today's "Island Mele" column on G3.

TATAFU STARS IN "GODSPELL 2012" AT MVT | 4. Elitei Tatafu Jr. (Jesus) celebrated with Chelsey Jensen at the opening-night reception for Manoa Valley Theatre's production of "Godspell 2012" June 27. Tatafu's straightforward portrayal of Jesus as an earnest low-key everyman is a redemptive element amid the production's disruptive cavalcade of annoying antics, self-indulgent distractions and heavyhanded showbiz schtick.
