Sataraka, U.S. finish with silver medal
Honolulu’s Mysha Sataraka went 0-for-2 for the U.S. in a 4-0 loss to Japan on Sunday in a rain-shortened gold medal game of the International Softball Federation Junior Women’s World Championship in Brampton, Ontario.
The U.S. hadn’t surrendered a run through eight tournament games until Japan scored four in the top of the fifth inning. The U.S. had posted just one hit when the game was called in the sixth due to rain, and Japan claimed the 19-and-under world championship.
Sataraka, a Punahou graduate, started all nine games in the tournament and hit .455 with four doubles, three home runs and 17 RBIs.
