Hawaii soccer team adds 2 players
The Hawaii women’s soccer team announced Tuesday the addition of two players to its 2013 recruiting class.
Hayden Gibson, a transfer from Louisiana-Lafayette, will have two seasons of eligibility. The Colorado native started 40 straight matches and led the team in scoring with five goals.
Justine Olotoa, of Villa Park, Calif., is an incoming freshman from Mater Dei High School. She helped her team qualify for the CIF playoffs as an outside midfielder.
Their additions raise the recruiting class to 10 players for the upcoming season, which begins Aug. 23 against UNC Greensboro. Four are local products.
"Adding players like Hayden and Justine helps us round out an already stellar recruiting class," UH coach Michele Nagamine said in a UH statement. "Hayden’s experience is going to add more depth in the attack for us, as she is able to play a number of positions and knows how to score. Justine is very athletic and explosive and is eager to compete, so that’s a deadly combination. I think our fans are going to witness some incredible soccer this season."
