Surf expected to grow larger through today and Wednesday
A moderate south swell that could reach advisory levels of 8 feet is expected to bring waves of 3 to 5 feet with larger sets this afternoon.
Smaller surf of 1 to 3 feet is expected for most of the day, but waves will increase in size and consistency later in the afternoon, the National Weather Service said.
Surf will build overnight and should peak at 8 feet Wednesday.
The waves are being generated by a gale south of French Polynesia. Another storm near New Zealand may bring more surf to south shores this weekend.
