Malie Kai opens its first retail store
After participating in the weekly farmers market at Royal Hawaiian Center, Malie Kai Chocolates is hoping for sweeter success at its first retail shop.
The store opened Tuesday on the center’s Level 1 of Building C, and in celebration of the milestone, Malie Kai Chocolates has introduced a Hawaiian Rum Truffle, sold exclusively at the Waikiki shop.
The chocolatier was founded in 2005 by Nathan Sato and Miki Azuchi. All of Malie Kai’s chocolate bars — available in eight flavors — are made from sustainably grown cacao from the North Shore of Oahu. Varieties include milk and dark chocolate with cacao nibs, Kona espresso in dark chocolate and Kona cappuccino in milk chocolate, and a new white tangerine bar.
Malie Kai Chocolates is open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Call 599-8600 or visit MalieKai.com.
