The 30th annual Koa Anvil Awards for Hawaii’s public relations industry professionals were held Thursday evening at the Hawaii Prince Hotel.
The Public Relations Society of America Hawaii Chapter gave its Gregg W. Perry Public Relations Professional of the Year Award to Howard Daniel, vice president of editorial services at Communications Pacific Inc.
The Hokupa‘a Award went to David Pettinger, senior account executive at McNeil Wilson Communications/Anthology Marketing Group.
Nathan Kam, executive vice president of McNeil Wilson Communications/Anthology Marketing Group, received the President’s Leadership Award for significant contributions to the success of the chapter and the profession.
The Best of Show award was presented to Crystal Yamasaki, director at Bennet Group Strategic Communications, for her work on the grand opening of Whole Foods Market in Kailua.
Firms earning multiple awards were McNeil Wilson Communications/Anthology Marketing Group, 12; Castle Medical Center, 11; Stryker Weiner & Yokota Public Relations Inc., nine; Becker Communications, six; Bennet Group Strategic Communications, six; Communications Pacific, five; Hawaii Pacific Health, three; Kamehameha Schools, three; Olomana Loomis ISC, two; and The Limtiaco Co., two.
Communications major Clarissa Kenui, who attends the University of Hawaii at Manoa, was named winner of the $1,000 PRSA Hawaii/Roy Leffingwell Scholarship award for 2013.
