Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort will add a Tuesday fireworks show to its entertainment lineup, which has included Friday night fireworks since 1985.
The new fireworks show, which will light up the sky for the first time Aug. 6, will kick off with a new 15-minute dance performance by Tihati Productions at 7:45 p.m. in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Super Pool, followed by a five-minute fireworks display at about 8 p.m.
"This (the dance portion) will be a shorter, more contemporary show than our Friday night ‘Rockin’ Hawaiian Rainbow Revue’ and will include fireworks timed to the music," said Lora Gallagher, regional director of marketing for Hilton Hawaii. "We won’t close the pool for this show."
Gallagher said Hilton decided to expand its fireworks shows to ensure that more guests have a chance to see one of the shows and to increase traffic for the resort’s retail tenants.
"In the past, guests who were here for only 4.5 days did not get to see a fireworks show," Gallagher said.
"We are doing this as an added service for our guests, the community and the more than 90 shops and services at our resort. People have literally poured in for the Friday night fireworks show."
