Near-drowning lands man in hospital
An 80-year-old man was in critical condition after nearly drowning Monday near Heeia Kea Pier in the Kaneohe area, according to city Emergency Medical Services.
The man was snorkeling somewhere off the pier when he was brought to shore at about 1:55 p.m., EMS said.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed after he was brought to shore, EMS said, and paramedics took over treatment of the man before transporting him to a hospital shortly before 2 p.m.
