The Pig & The Lady moves to Chinatown

The Pig & The Lady finally has a brick-and-mortar location in Pacific Gateway Center. It will serve its popular Vietnamese street food from the site at 83 N. King St. that was formerly known as Lemongrass Cafe. The Pig & The Lady will lease the cafe space and, as part of the agreement, will provide job-skills training to individuals who work at the restaurant.

The move-in is slated for October and the restaurant will be called The Pig & The Lady at Lemongrass Cafe. PGC is focused on immigrants, refugees and the low-income population, and the restaurant will fill all possible open positions from the center’s constituency, said Terrine Wong, PGC assistant director.

Wahiawa General to pay $450K settlement

The U.S. Attorney’s office says Wahiawa General Hospital will pay about $450,000 to settle lawsuits alleging improper billing. Federal and state governments alleged the hospital wrongfully submitted claims to Medicare, Medicaid and the military’s health care program known as TRICARE. An investigation began after a doctor alleged the hospital submitted bills for services provided by resident doctors without the level of supervision required by federal law.

The U.S. Attorney’s office notes that while the hospital agreed to the settlement signed Thursday, the hospital doesn’t admit liability. Hospital officials didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment Friday.

The doctor who initiated the lawsuits will receive nearly $85,000 of the settlement payment.

Lite Hotels, a division of Aqua Hospitality, has announced the following appointments:

» Paul Dun as hotel manager for the Pagoda Hotel. He was previously hotel manager for White Sands Hotel and also holds experience in special events for Royal Hawaiian Center.

» Lendy Ma replaces Dun as hotel manager for White Sands Hotel. She has nearly 10 years of management experience, including Aqua Palms Waikiki and Island Colony Hotel.

ABC Stores has promoted the following employees: 

» Alan Furukawa to store manager of its #49 store, which is located adjacent to the Waikiki Gateway Hotel at 2070 Kalakaua Ave. He was previously an associate store manager for their #14 store at 2456 Kalakaua Ave.

» Jonathan Dahilog to store manager of its #76 store, which is located in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Hotel at 2552 Kalakaua Ave. He was previously an associate manager of ABC store’s Island Country Market at Ko Olina Resort as well as for their #38 store that is adjacent to Imperial Hawaii Hotel at 205 Lewers St.
