Woman hurt in jump from Maunawili Falls
A 23-year-old woman was injured Sunday morning after she jumped about 70 feet from the top of Maunawili Falls, a Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said.
The woman reported lower back pain and loss of feeling in her legs and feet. Her condition had not improved by the time rescue personnel reached her, so she was flown from the trail there, Capt. Carlton Yamada said.
A hiking group used a cellphone to report the incident just after 11 a.m., he said. Emergency Medical Services responders began caring for the woman around noon.
Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash
A 48-year-old woman lost control of her motorcycle Sunday afternoon near the top of the S-turn on Kaukonahua Road and was seriously injured, Emergency Medical Services reported.
The incident occurred just before noon. EMS said the woman was wearing a helmet.
A Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said the woman was taking the turn and laid down the motorcycle when she lost control.
Capt. Carlton Yamada said she complained of leg pain. She was taken in serious condition to a trauma center.
Mililani man charged with assaulting girl
Police charged a 31-year-old man Mililani man with first-degree sexual assault Saturday after an 11-year-old girl reported that he had sexually assaulted her, police said.
The incident occurred Wednesday around 3:30 p.m., according to police records. The man was taken into custody near Mililani Middle School just before 3 p.m. Friday and charged Saturday at 7:15 p.m. His bail was set at $50,000.
Suspect, 20, arrested in Waikiki robbery
Police arrested a man suspected of stealing items from a woman in Waikiki early Sunday morning.
The man, 20, shoved a woman and took her property around 2:20 a.m., according to police records. The woman flagged down an officer and pointed out the man, police said.
Police arrested him on suspicion of second-degree robbery 25 minutes after the incident near 2237 Kuhio Ave.
