The inaugural Hawai‘i Fashion Month will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday with the its signature event, a red-carpet party on the ground floor of the TJ Maxx building at Ward Centers.
Fashion lovers are invited to don apparel, accessories and jewelry by their favorite local designers for the event. A fashion show will feature emerging and established designers, and the work of Kyoto-based fiber and textile artist Akihiko Izukura. Kakaako Kitchen and REAL a Gastropub will provide food, with drinks by Hawaiian Vodka, Ulupalakua Vineyards and Mehana Brewing Co. The entertainment includes Taimane, the Pushovers and DJ Toma.

» Oct. 2 and 3: OUTFIT: Hawai‘i Fashion Designers Market will bring designers from across the state to a new industrial space under TJ Maxx at Ward Centers. OUTFIT, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, is geared toward trade professionals, with free registration for buyers and industry representatives at www.outfithawaii.com. Doors will open to the public at 1 p.m. both days. General admission is $3. OUTFIT will also host runway shows each day at 1 and 3 p.m. and workshops by Art & Flea. Izukura, who descends from a line of master silk-weavers for the imperial family of Japan, will showcase 20 of his pieces in a gallery installation.
» Oct. 4: Fashion As Art/The Way We Wear: Fourteen evening and bridal designers will showcase gowns against the backdrop of the Hawai‘i State Art Museum sculpture garden, from 6 p.m. Admission to the First Friday event is free.
» Oct. 4 to 6: Fall Fashion Event: More than 100 in-store events, offers, promotions and daily fashion shows will be presented on a long runway at Ala Moana Center. Details at AlaMoanaCenter.com.
» Oct. 24: The Hawaii Designer Fashion Show in the Royal Grove at Royal Hawaiian Center will feature garments by Ava Sky, Fighting Eel, Indah, Tiare Hawaii, Island Slippers, Royal Hawaiian Boutique and Lole Hawaii.
» Oct. 30: Winners of the Governor’s Fashion Awards will be announced at the Modern Honolulu. Awards will celebrate Hawaii fashion’s past, present and future, recognizing industry professionals in more than a dozen categories, from retail and design to photography and styling.
