FONG HONORED BY SAINT LOUIS SCHOOL: Retired Judge Arthur S.K. Fong (Class of ’42), left, was congratulated by his son, Honolulu attorney Peter C.K. Fong, after his induction into Saint Louis School’s Gallery of Distinguished Achievers Sept. 19 at the Sheraton Waikiki. Fong told the crowd that Saint Louis gave him “not only my education and the tools that I needed but also the discipline that I was lacking when I entered the school.”

“LES MIZ” OPENS IN KANEOHE: Theater Manager Tom Holowach, left, was in 19th-century attire as he talked to Gov. Neil Abercrombie after “Les Miserables” opened Sept. 20 at Paliku Theatre. Abercrombie credited longtime friend Charles Toguchi with persuading him to see Holowach’s staging of “Les Miz” after they had seen a lavish production of the same show at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in August.

POLSON REMEMBERED AT TAG: Earll Kingston, left, was the emcee, and Eric Nemoto, president of The Actors’ Group, one of the speakers at the celebration of life for Sam Polson Sept. 22 at the TAG Theatre in Iwilei. Polson, seen in the portrait in character as Elwood P. Dowd from “Harvey,” starred in all three of TAG’s productions of the show, and played Gen. Lee opposite Kingston as Gen. Grant in another TAG play, “We Meet At Appomattox.”
