Man dies after fall into stream
A 71-year-old man died Wednesday night after falling into Nuuanu Stream, police said.
Witnesses told police that the man fell into the water near River and Pauahi streets at 7:21 p.m.
Firefighters and police pulled the man from the stream, and he later became unresponsive and was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.
Kakaako victim identified
A 52-year-old man who died while stand-up paddleboarding off Kakaako Waterfront Park on Wednesday night has been identified as Roy Ito Jr. of Kaneohe, according to the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office.
An autopsy will be conducted today to determine cause of death.
Paramedics took Ito to the hospital in critical condition after surfers brought him to shore at 6:04 p.m. He died at the hospital.
Homicide detectives also are investigating the incident.
