Waikiki Rotary Club will mark 75 years
The Waikiki Rotary Club celebrates its 75th anniversary with an international food festival Saturday at the Pacific Beach Hotel.
The event from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., a benefit for the club, will feature a buffet and no-host bar.

New class features Korean seafood
An addition to Walter Rhee’s lineup of Asian cooking classes is one that focuses on Korean seafood.
The class, 3 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, will feature sashimi bi bim bap, spicy squid stir-fry, dry squid tempura, fish stew, cold sauteed clams, live crab poke and seaweed chips.

Documentary film covers isle farming
Learn about how Hawaii farmers, educators and scientists are re-establishing local agriculture at the Oct. 23 free screening of "Seeds of Hope," a 2012 documentary.
The film screens at 6:30 p.m. at Punahou School’s Thurston Memorial Chapel.
Before the screening at 5:45 p.m., talk story with folks from Conservation International’s Hawai‘i Fish Trust, Hawai‘i Food Policy Council, Hawai‘i Rural Development Council, Kanu Hawai‘i, Kokua Hawai‘i Foundation, MA‘O Farms and Slow Food Oahu. Wield ‘Pasta Power’ with Castle’s help
Add new ideas for sauces and dressings to your pasta repertoire, 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at Castle Wellness Center’s "Pasta Power" class.
The vegan cooking class will offer gluten-free and whole-wheat pasta recipes.

School to offer imu on Thanksgiving eve
The Kailua High School Athletic Program is offering space inside an imu for trays of food Nov. 27. The food will emerge from the underground oven the next morning full of luau flavor.
Cost is $20 per large aluminum tray. Food — whole turkeys, roasts or pork butt (meat chunks should have three deep cuts in them), sweet potatoes, taro or luau leaves — must be thawed, seasoned and well wrapped in foil. Place the wrapped food in the tray and wrap the tray in foil. Weight limit per tray is 25 pounds.
Reservations are due Nov. 15. Make checks payable to Kailua High School and mail to the school at 451 Ulumanu Drive, Kailua, HI 96734. Write "Attention IMU" in lower left corner of the envelope. Include your name, telephone number and a self-addressed, stamped envelope so a confirmation ticket can be sent to you. To be included in an email list for future imu, provide email address as well.
