Fujikawa advances to second stage
Tadd Fujikawa shot a 3-under 70 and advanced by finishing tied for 30th at the Web.com Tour’s First Qualifying Stage in Florence, S.C.
Fujikawa’s four-round total was 277. The top 39 at 278 and better advanced to the second stage.
Chan Kim, the 2006 state high school champion, shot 73—295 and did not advance at Dayton, Nev. He tied for 43rd. The top 33 advanced.
Azusa Pacific sweeps HPU women
Hawaii Pacific was swept for the second night in a row, this time by Azusa Pacific 25-15, 25-21, 25-20 in a PacWest women’s volleyball match at St. Andrew’s Priory gym on Friday. The Sea Warriors, who were swept by Cal Baptist on Thursday, are 13-6, 7-4. The Cougars are 13-6, 6-4.
» The Chaminade women’s volleyball team fell to Point Loma, 25-14, 25-14, 25-23, Thursday at McCabe Gym. Kapiolani Rapoza had seven kills to lead the Silverswords (5-10, 2-8 in PacWest). The Lancers are 17-3, 11-0.
Garcia lifts HPU to men’s soccer win
Brais Garcia scored on a header in the second overtime (108th minute) to lift Hawaii Pacific to a 2-1 victory over Dominican in a men’s soccer match at Atherton field in Kaneohe on Thursday. Felipe Silva scored in the 84th minute for the Sea Warriors (7-3-2, 5-1-1). The Penguins are 4-8-2, 2-5-1.
» Andrea Aguirre scored in the 67th minute and Breanna Gaddis in the 89th as the HPU women (5-7, 3-4) beat Dominican (6-6-2, 3-4-1) by a 2-0 margin in Kaneohe.
