Toby Ann Ruby had one word for the Sept. 29 finale of AMC’s "Breaking Bad": "Wow."
"I was blown away," Ruby said, calling the show one of the best of all time.
A viewer since the pilot episode — "some episodes more than once, finale at least three times" — Ruby is the winner of our contest to predict the ending to "Breaking Bad." The challenge was to explain what would happen to several key characters, based on the first episode of the final eight, and any accumulated knowledge, which in her case was a lot. (Spoiler alert!)
Ruby was correct on several key points:
» "Jesse will turn informer and tell the DEA all about everything," and his hatred would deepen "when he learns that Walt let his girlfriend die."
» Walt would use the poisonous ricin on Lydia, the ice queen with the European meth distribution connections.
» Walt would die by his own hand, which sort of happened when the remote-control gun he built nailed him as well as the neo-Nazis in their desert compound.
» Ruby also anticipated a shootout in the desert, which she called "one of the main stars of the show."
As her prize, Ruby wins a Heisenberg action figure, named after Walter White’s evil alter ego.
Her final thoughts on Walt, who survived long enough after being shot to revisit the meth lab: "He had two biological children, and he did go back and at least look at them one more time … but he died in the arms of his third ‘chemically created’ child (the meth) — the one he loved the most at the end."
