"Spookilau" includes walking tours of downtown sites with haunted histories, guided investigations using paranormal-detection equipment inside Hawaii’s oldest houses, face painting and other fun.
Tickets — $10 for adults, $6 for keiki 12 and under — can be purchased at the door or in advance at www.missionhouses.org or by calling 447-3926.
Have a sweet time at Sugar Skull Social
Let Them Eat Cupcakes is hosting a Sugar Skull Social, a two-hour make-and-take session where kids can learn the art of sugar skull painting.
The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Chinatown bake shop, 35 S. Beretania St. The $25 class fee includes a blank mask, paint and decorations, tools and a two-pack of cupcakes to take home. Parents may accompany children at no additional cost.
The finished masks, done in the style of Mexican sugar skulls, will be displayed at Let Them Eat Cupcakes along with the names and photos of the artists through Nov. 1.
