UH’s men swimmers win two dual meets
Hawaii’s men’s swimming and diving team won nine events Saturday to defeat UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly in dual meets at San Luis Obispo, Calif.
UH beat UCSB 185-181 and Cal Poly 202-158.
Hawaii’s women split, topping Cal Poly 220-139 and losing to UCSB 208-161.
Individual winners for the UH men included Ali Maclean (100- and 200-yard backstroke), Karl Kennebach (100 butterfly), Eduardo Guimaraes (200 freestyle), Paulo dePaula (100 breaststroke), Victor Goichoechea (1,650 free) and Amund Gismervik (1-meter dive).
The Rainbow Warriors also won two relay events, the 200 medley and the 800 free.
Jasmine Alkaldi won the 100 and 200 free and Aimee Harrison the 3-meter dive for the Rainbow Wahine.
BYUH sweeps Dixie State in volleyball
Shih Ting Chen had 19 kills and Brigham Young-Hawaii hit at a .331 clip to sweep Dixie State in a Pacific West Conference women’s volleyball match Saturday in Laie, 25-19, 25-17, 25-20.
The Seasiders improved to 18-1 overall and 13-1 in the PacWest. The Red Storm fell to 13-8 and 10-5.
On Friday, BYUH swept Academy of Art 25-21, 25-15, 25-18, while Dixie State swept Hawaii Pacific (13-7, 7-5), 25-15, 25-15, 25-20. Also Friday, Chaminade (7-12, 4-10) upset 23rd-ranked Fresno Pacific (10-8, 5-6) by scores of 25-27, 25-21, 15-25 and 25-17, 15-13.
Chaminade women, men winless in soccer
Hannah Emmett broke a scoreless tie in the 40th minute to vault Academy of Art to a 4-0 victory over Chaminade in a Pacific West Conference women’s soccer match Saturday at the Saint Louis School field.
The Silverswords fell to 0-14 overall and 0-10 in the PacWest. The Urban Knights are 3-10-1 and 2-5-1.
