Pearl City’s Nicholas Azumi rolled a six-game total of 1,274 and has a 30-pin lead on the boys side after Day 1 of the Billy Tees/HHSAA Bowling State Championships at the Hickam Bowling Center.
Along with teammate Ken Hayase-Fong, the duo spearheaded the Chargers to the top spot on the team standings with a pin-total of 5,847. That is a 494 pin-total difference ahead of second-place Hawaii Baptist.
On the girls side, Mililani’s Danielle August bowled a six-game total of 1,175. She has a 34-pin lead on second-place Chelsi Morishige of Pearl City.
The Chargers, with only Morishige in the top 10, have a 142 pin-total lead on Sacred Hearts.
The event ends today at the Hickam Bowling Center, beginning at 8 a.m.
