Fujikawa, Cyr have catching up to do

Hawaii’s Sam Cyr and Tadd Fujikawa need to make up ground halfway through their Web.com Second Stage tournaments.

Cyr fired a second-round 74 Wednesday and is at 2-over-par 146 at Rancho Murrieta, Calif., — tied for 51st. The King Kekaulike graduate had five birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey at Bear Creek Golf Club, where the top 20 and ties will advance to the Final Stage.

Fujikawa is tied for 70th after another round of 76 in Gautier, Miss., where the top 19 advance. Fujikawa had four birdies, four bogeys and two doubles.

Kevin Warrick, who attended Leilehua in the 1990s, shot 70 both days and is tied for 14th.

Juniors get chance to swing with Pak

Eight Hawaii juniors from four islands have earned a trip to Waikoloa Beach Resort for a Dec. 5 golf clinic and game with Se Ri Pak, who has won more than 30 tournaments and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007.

Kauai’s Naea Oda and Keegan Loo, Oahu’s Zoey Akagi-Bustin and Remington Hirano, Maui’s Kimberlie Miyamoto and Tyler Munetake, and the Big Island’s Andi Igawa and Shon Katahira were chosen based on their results at select Hawaii State Junior Golf Association events.

Each golfer gets round-trip airfare, ground transportation, the golf clinic and a round of golf.

Pak has been a Hilton "partner" since 2010. Her visit and the clinic are also sponsored by Hawaiian Airlines and Waikoloa.

Travel packages in place for Hyundai

The PGA Tour’s annual visit to Hawaii now includes a chance to buy discount tickets to the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, Jan. 3-6 at Kapalua’s Plantation Course.

The event has two Holiday Ticket Packages available. Two Good Any Day Grounds tickets are $20 and two Weekly Grounds tickets $45. Those tickets are good for the Thursday pro-am (Jan. 2) and/or four tournament days (Friday-Monday).

The specials can be purchased until Dec. 24 at PGATour.com/ Hyundai or at Ticketmaster.com.

Kids 18-under are free with a ticketed adult.
