Hawaii Children’s Discovery Center: Winter Discovery Camps, Dec. 23, 26 and 27; and Dec. 30, Jan. 2 and 3, 111 Ohe St.,Kakaako. Morning camps("Winter Tales") run from 9 a.m. to noon, and afternoon camps ("Arctic Animals") run from 1 to 4 p.m., with optional after-camp care ($6 per week) from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Features interactive activities, visits to the center’s galleries, outdoor play and a snack. » Camp ‘Imi Loa: Features animal tours and animal enrichment/encounter activities reinforced with classroom lessons, crafts, games and educational videos. For ages 6 to 8. Cost:$228 per week.
» Camp Wildlife Koa: Students learn about natural and man-made causes of animal endangerment through research and scientific inquiry, visit the zoo’s endangered species, start a wildlife conservation project, and participate in animal enrichment activities and encounters, crafts, games and presentations. For ages 9 to 11. Cost:$285 per week.
Kama’aina Kids: Winter Intersession, Dec. 23 to Jan. 3 for grades K-6, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (program begins 8 a.m.) at the following sites: Mililani Tech Park, Voyager Public Charter School, Kama’aina Kids’ Honolulu Preschool and Ala Wai, Keoneula, Waikele, Waimalu, Ben Parker, Enchanted Lake, Hahaione and Salt Lake elementary schools. Activities include excursions, arts and crafts, games, science experiments, singing, dancing and more.
