No. 2 Gannon rolls past Chaminade
Doriyon Glass scored a season-high 13 points and No. 2 Gannon defeated Chaminade 88-55 Thursday in the opening round of the Oahu Classic women’s basketball tournament at McKinley High gym.
Jen Papich added 12 points for the Lady Knights (5-0), off to their best start since 2009. Gannon opened the contest with a 12-0 run.
Carissa McBride came off the bench to lead the Silverswords (0-3) with 12 points. Kennedi Akana finished with eight points before fouling out with 12:25 remaining.

» Kelsey Hoppel scored 20 points and Nicole Hamptom grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Lubbock Christian past Brigham Young-Hawaii, 75-48.
Emily Pool and Kacie Boyles each had 13 points for the Lady Chaps (5-1).
Reserve Jiashan Cui led the Seasiders (0-4) with 11 points. Uluakimata Talavou Tonga added 10 rebounds.
» Brittney Hale’s 3-pointer with 24 seconds left proved to be the game-winner as Hawaii Pacific opened its season with a 71-68 victory over Oklahoma Christian.
The Sea Warriors hit nine 3-pointers, incluidng three each by Hale and Skye Savini, who finished with a game-high 19 points. Morganne Comstock added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
McKenzie Stanford came off the bench to lead the Eagles (3-4) with 16 points. Roz Hamilton fnished for 12 points and 10 rebounds for Oklahoma Christian, which has lost four straight.
The tournament concludes today with a tripleheader at McKinley. BYU-Hawaii faces Gannon at 3 p.m., Chaminade meets Oklahoma Christian at 5 p.m. and HPU takes on Lubbock Christian at 7 p.m.
