Ornaments have Shaka Santa hitting the waves
This year’s Honolulu City Lights ornaments show Shaka Santa taking on the big waves of Waimea Bay.
The collectible ornaments created by the Friends of Honolulu City Lights have been sold as a fundraiser for the annual holiday event since 2000.
One of the 2013 designs shows the Shaka Santa loading his woody station wagon with surfboards and other gear as he prepares to surf Waimea Bay. His surfboard is stamped "Santa Would Go" in honor of famed waterman Eddie Aikau.
The other ornament depicts the Shaka Santa, with beard and red suit flying, surfing the epic waves at the North Shore beach.
The ornaments are $18 each at Oahu branches of First Hawaiian Bank and Macy’s stores on Oahu. Order them online for shipping to friends and family on the mainland at www.honolulucitylights.org, where past versions are available as well.
