Chaminade men win at home
Lee Bailey scored 17 points and dished out five assists as Chaminade beat Northwood 80-73 at McCabe Gym on Thursday night.
Kuany Kuany contributed 13 points and six rebounds for the Silverswords (5-4), who are 5-0 against Division II schools. Will Bowles led Longwood (7-4) with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Simmers leads Malone over Chaminade
Deborah Simmers scored 20 points in 23 minutes and the Malone women’s basketball team beat Chaminade 92-58 at McCabe Gym.
Simmers was 1-for-5 from long range but went 7-for-8 from inside the arc. Lauren Meyers scored 14 points in 14 minutes for the Pioneers (6-3), while Sydnee Penn had 13 and Selana Reale scored 11.
Kennedy Akana led the Silverswords (1-7) with 13 points, followed by Hanna Curtius with 12.
Comstock converts for HPU women
Morganne Comstock converted a three-point play with 1:24 left and Hawaii Pacific beat Northwest Nazarene 72-71 at Bloch Arena at Pearl Harbor on Thursday.
The Crusaders could manage only a pair of free throws after Comstock’s go-ahead basket.
Veanne Navarro led the Sea Warriors with 14 points and Comstock added 13. Chelsie Luke led the Crusaders with 20 points on 17 shots.
