The Consulate General of South Korea in Honolulu and KBFD had a special screening of the Korean film "Top Star" Tuesday night at the Hawaii Theatre, commemorating the 110th anniversary of Korean immigration to the U.S. The evening included a presentation of a letter commemorating the anniversary by state Rep. Calvin Say to Korean Consul General Walter K. Paik.
The free screening of "Top Star," which is about the rise of a Hallyu celebrity and how it can transform a person, was attended by many representatives from the state House and Senate. At the end of the movie, the 1,000 attendees burst into applause, with many asking for more events like it in the future.
The Consulate General and KBFD is also holding an essay contest open to the public regardless of whether entrants have seen the film.
Essays should be 250 to 300 words with views and opinions about Korea and emailed to koreanessay123@gmail.com. A cash prize will be awarded. The deadline to enter is Monday at midnight.

"Madly in Love"
Episodes 11 and 12
Today, 6:30 p.m.: Soo-hyeok takes Yoo-jung after he finds her in Moo-yeol’s arms. Yoo-jung falls asleep in the car and they both end up spending the night there. Moo-yeol gets the wrong idea when he sees Yoo-jung being dropped off in the morning. Moon-hee gets drunk and ends up at Eun-sook’s house. When Nan-cho sees Moon-do picking up Moon-hee from Eun-sook’s, she decides to take action. She overdoses on pills to get Moon-do’s attention and it works.
Today, 7:45 p.m.: Moo-yeol offers Yoo-jung a job and a place to stay at the farm. Yoo-jung resigns from Sinsung and starts working at Chowon, much to Soo-hyeok’s dismay. Soo-hyeok goes to the farm and tells Yoo-jung that he will wait no matter how long. Moo-yeol starts looking for a factory to produce his milk, but Moon-do plans to intervene. Moon-hee uses the money Nan-cho gives her to buy an apartment to purchase a cafe. Hye-sook is sad to find out that she’s not pregnant.

Episodes 19 and 20
Monday, 7:45 p.m.: Na-young tells Bok-nyo not to become the children’s mother. The children forget their late mom’s birthday and wait for Bok-nyo to come back. Na-young is heartbroken that the children don’t care about her and her sister, and suddenly announces her wedding.
Tuesday, 7:45 p.m.: Bok-nyo slaps some sense into Na-young and stops her from getting married. Bok-nyo also promises Na-young that she’ll leave. Bok-nyo comes back to the children, but shows a very different side of herself. The children are bewildered by Bok-nyo’s sudden change in attitude.

Wednesday, 7:45 p.m.: Young-do finds out Eun-sang is a maid’s daughter. Eun-sang is worried what Young-do will do with the information. Tan warns Young-do not to blackmail Eun-sang. Young-do tells Tan to stay away from Eun-sang if he wants everyone to be safe. Tan tells Hyo-shin that he’s an illegitimate child.
Thursday, 7:45 p.m.: Rachel yells at Young-do for not telling her that Tan is an illegitimate child. Young-do warns Rachel not to reveal Tan’s secret. Chairman Kim kicks Tan out of the house and instructs Mr. Yoon to prepare for Eun-sang to study abroad. Tan goes to stay with his brother.
"The Woman Who Married 3 Times"
Episodes 5 and 6
Friday, 7:45 p.m.: Joon-goo tries to break up with Dami, but Dami clings to him, saying she sincerely loves him. Eun-soo goes on a trip with Seul-gi to get closer to her daughter, but she’s disappointed when Seul-gi doesn’t warm up to her.
Saturday, 7:45 p.m: Joon-goo cold-heartedly breaks up with Dami. Eun-soo tries her best to open Seul-gi’s heart, but Seul-gi keeps her distance. Eun-soo cuts their trip short and returns home early.
