Dad driving truck fatally hits daughter, 2
A 2-year-old child died after being struck by a pickup truck driven by her father.
The incident in a parking lot at Rainbow Beauty Supply at 650 Kohou St. happened at about 5 p.m. Tuesday when the father was picking up his wife and daughter and the girl ran in front of the vehicle, police Lt. Robert Towne said.
"He just didn’t see the girl," Towne said.
The girl was taken in critical condition by her parents to the Queen’s Medical Center, where she died, authorities said.
Victim in hospital as man held in stabbing
A 24-year-old man is in police custody following a stabbing incident near the state Capitol on Monday night.
Emergency Medical Services reported that paramedics treated and took two men to the hospital in serious condition with stab wounds at 11:28 p.m. from South Beretania and Punchbowl streets.
Police said that a fight occurred at the bus stop on South Beretania Street across from the state Capitol at 11:20 p.m.
The victim is a 26-year-old man and is still hospitalized.
Police are not saying whether the two men knew each other.
The suspect, who was treated for his wounds, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault after he was released from the hospital.
