Silverswords win to near lead in PacWest
Kevin Hu scored 11 of his team-high 15 points in the second half as Chaminade beat Academy of Art 69-55 in Pacific West Conference men’s basketball Thursday in San Francisco.
The Silverwords (12-6, 9-1 PacWest) won for the seventh time in a row to pull within a half-game of first-place California Baptist. The Urban Knights fell to 4-13 and 2-8.
» Fresno Pacific (6-12, 1-9) claimed its first conference win of the season at the expense of visiting Hawaii Pacific (11-5, 7-4).
» Notre Dame de Namur (6-11, 5-7) held off Brigham Young-Hawaii (8-8, 6-4) in Belmont, Calif. Scott Friel led BYUH with 18 points.
» Guard Dominique Taplin had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Dominican (12-7, 6-5) over Hawaii Hilo (3-13, 0-10) in San Rafael, Calif.

» Notre Dame de Namur (4-13, 3-8) withstood a 29-point night by Brydgette Tatupu-Leopoldo to post a 74-70 victory over Brigham Young-Hawaii (2-13, 2-8) in Belmont, Calif.
» Krystal Fortham had 23 points and 18 rebounds to lead Academy of Art (12-6, 9-1) over Chaminade (2-14, 2-8) in San Francisco.
» Charde Stevens had a game-high 25 points as Fresno Pacific (5-11, 5-5) upended Hawaii Pacific (11-5, 7-3) in Fresno.
» Salonika Quewon-Owens had 23 points and four steals to lead Dominican (6-8, 5-5) over Hawaii Hilo (3-14, 3-8) in San Rafael, Calif.
