‘Study hall’ for Super Bowl fans
Want to enjoy the Super Bowl in style on Sunday? Join the "Super Study Hall" event at The Modern Honolulu where guests can enjoy the big game at The Study Lounge.
Various drink specials will be served along with such fare as buffalo chicken wings with bleu cheese dressing; a "Classic" burger delivered on a homemade pretzel roll with smoked cheddar, avocado and thick bacon slices; and two pizza options: Carnivore Pizza with San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian sausage and Canadian bacon; or the Margherita Pizza with San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil.

Bar 35 will hold weekly tastings
Bar 35 is busy this month hosting weekly beer tastings as well as a scotch-and-cigar event.
» Tasting participants will have a chance to try eight beers weekly, based on themes.
The events run 6 p.m. every Wednesday in February.

» For those not into beer, or who want to educate their palate, there’s the bar’s monthly "Speak Easy –Sippin’ & Cigars" event, running 6 p.m. Feb. 6 in the open-air Bamboo Bar.
The featured spirit is scotch, and event-goers will try a sweet, or peaty, scotch with a cigar for $10.

Learn hands-on at organic event
Learn about organic soil practices at Hawaii Organic Farming Association’s "Grow Organic: A One Day Hands-on Organic Event," 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 8.
Farm expert Jon Biloon will lead the class, and state Rep. Jessica Wooley, head of the House Agriculture Committee, will speak on Hawaii’s current agricultural issues, the importance of small organic farms and local food systems, and what actions can be taken to further organic agriculture in Hawaii.
