Bruno naysayers living on Mars?
So, all the naysayers are observing that Bruno Mars isn’t Bruce Springsteen or any of the previous headliners at the Super Bowl halftime show. And they’re concluding that he should be nervous about messing up?
"He needs to really come across strongly and obviously not fall flat on his face, or it could kill his career," said Gary Bongiovanni of industry publication Pollstar.
Wait a minute … what? This is Bruno Mars, Best Male Pop Vocal Performer at the Grammys a few years back.
"I ain’t scared, if that’s what you think," the Hawaii-born recording artist told the media this week.
That’s right, you tell ’em, Bruno. Considering that he’s won 57 awards from 177 nominations, you’ve got to wonder why anybody’s worried about him.
Don’t let your next hike be your last
If there’s one lesson to be learned from hiker Alex Sverdlov’s harrowing four days of being stranded atop windy and snow-bound Mauna Loa earlier this week, it is that it’s always good to tell people of your hiking plans.
Officials said they went looking for Sverdlov because he was the only person who had registered to be hiking in the area, just prior to when they closed the park due to the dangerous weather. They couldn’t reach him by phone on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, they found his car. He was spotted from a helicopter on Thursday, and an incident that could have ended badly turned out well.
It helped that Sverdlov was extremely fit and an experienced hiker who remained calm, but, still, let people know when you trek off into the wild. The life you save could be your own.
