Michael Medved, a nationally syndicated radio talk-show host and well-known movie reviewer, will speak about Israel’s treatment of Palestinians at a Temple Emanu-El event set for 7 p.m. Feb. 9.
Medved also will devote some time to commenting on this year’s lineup of films slated for the 12th annual Temple Emanu-El Kirk Cashmere Film Festival. The two-week event gets underway March 1 at the Honolulu Museum of Art’s Doris Duke Theatre.
In a news release, Ken Aronowitz, spiritual and cantorial leader of Temple Emanu-El, said, "Mr. Medved will address the criticism directed toward the state of Israel, including its treatment of Palestinians living in and outside of Israel." While members of the liberal Union for Reform Jewish movement, to which Temple Emanu-El belongs, might disagree with Medved’s views, "we are looking forward to hearing from a conservative radio host who shares with us a love for our Jewish home," Aronowitz said.
"The Michael Medved Show," based in Seattle, airs on Salem Radio Network.
Admission to the event is $5, free for temple members. The temple is at 2550 Pali Highway; call 595-7521.
