Longtime morning news anchor Ann Sterling is the new face on "KITV4 Morning News," which airs weekdays from 5 to 7 a.m.
The hapa-Vietnamese anchor grew up in Florida, graduated from the University of South Florida-Tampa and has a resume full of alphabet soup, which is the norm for anyone in broadcasting.
Sterling has worked in television news, primarily as a morning anchor, in Myrtle Beach, S.C..; Las Vegas; at KNXV-TV in Phoenix; at KOKI-TV in Tulsa, Okla.; and in Los Angeles, prior to her most recent position as morning anchor at KTVX in Salt Lake City.
It’s her preferred anchoring shift, said Melissa Mapes, KITV creative services director, and it is work for which Sterling won a 2010 Emmy award.
Sterling started her new assignment in the islands on Wednesday.
Also new to the KITV morning show is traffic reporter Lei U‘i Kaholokula, originally from Kauai.
She was Miss Kauai 2012, she was a volleyball player for Chaminade University and earlier this month she was crowned Miss Na Hawaiiki 2014 on Maui.
That name brings back memories of fun Hawaiian music, right?
Yes, she is part of the popular musical ohana Na Kaholokula, who have been recording Hawaiian music for decades, Mapes confirmed.
Her first day on-air at KITV was Thursday.
Ashley Moser began co-anchoring the KITV weekend morning news alongside Paul Drewes on Jan. 18.
The graduate of Punahou and BYU returned to Hawaii for the job, from a previous position as a general assignment reporter and co-anchor at an NBC affiliate in Toledo, Ohio.
Moser is a second-generation TV news anchor, as her mother, Sandra Sagisi, once was an anchor and reporter at KGMB-TV, said Mapes.
Among her career highlights, Moser served as an anchor, reporter and producer for KBYU Eleven News in Utah, a daily newscast that airs on PBS, and she won a national Society of Professional Journalists award for "Best All-around television newscast" for her work there in 2012.
KITV’s is the only local newscast on weekend mornings. It airs from 6 to 8 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Melissa Mapes is KITV’s creative services director; not the marketing director.
Ann Sterling, who recently joined the "KITV4 Morning News" team, had been a morning anchorwoman in Myrtle Beach, S.C. A different state was identified.
