Hawaii Hilo splits softball doubleheader
The Hawaii Hilo softball team managed a split in its season-opening doubleheader against Western Washington on Sunday at Sand Island Park.
In Game 1, Autumn Isaacson had three hits, while Meghan Carrillo and Emma Blauser combined to drive in four runs as the Vikings won 6-2. Jenna DeRosier pitched a complete-game seven-hitter and struck out three. Brandi Wilson had two hits in the Vulcans’ loss.
In Game 2, UHH scored five runs in the first inning en route to a 9-4 victory. Emily Greene belted a two-run double, while Hannah Peterson pitched a complete game and struck out four for the Vulcans.
