Food workshop focuses on kiawe
Learn about the historical uses of the kiawe tree, the gathering of the beans and the creation of gluten-free and diabetes-friendly kiawe foods in a workshop Feb. 22.
"Kiawe Bean Pods: Brand New Ancient Food," led by Vince Kana’i Dodge of ‘Ai Pohaku, will include samples for those interested in processing kiawe, as well as a demonstration of snack bars using kiawe flour.
The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at ‘Ilima at Leihano, 891 Kamaaha Ave. in Kapolei.

Demo features plant-based recipes
The Castle Wellness Center is holding an "Eat Well for Life: Dining and Diabetes" cooking demonstration at 6 p.m. Feb. 27, with a focus on plant-based diets. Samples and recipes will be provided.
