Montana State-Billings takes 2 from UHH
Montana State-Billings swept a softball doubleheader from Hawaii Hilo on Wednesday in Las Vegas, 7-6 and 7-6.
The first game featured 23 combined hits, and the Yellowjackets scored six runs in the fifth. Hawaii Hilo had a chance to tie, but stranded a runner at second base on a game-ending flyout to center field. Brittney Sanders drove in three runs for MSU-Billings, including a three-run homer in the fifth.
Sanders ended the second game with a walk-off hit up the middle for the Yellowjackets (3-1).
The Vulcans (1-3) begin the Desert Stinger Tournament on Friday in Las Vegas with games against Humboldt State and New Mexico Highlands.
